It's not often I do anything that impresses me

But I have!!! I've made a fully reversible spring coat (yes, I realise I'm completely jumping the gun here) for Hayley. I didn't have a pattern, I had to cobble together a pyjama pattern - yes pyjamas! - and some common sense, but it worked. There are a couple of things I'll do differently next time, like not make the collar quite so stiff, but it's a learning process. I'm so pleased with it, as is Hayley, though she insists she'll only ever wear it with the spotty side showing!

No buttons yet, I need to go and buy some tomorrow. I'm going to use the cover buttons for it. I have some funky turquoise and brown fabric that will work beautifully with the cord and will use the purple fabric on the spotty side.
Side 1

Side 2

It'll need a wash to soften it up and make the ironing a bit easier, as well as flatten the seams a little, but I can overlook all that for now! Can you tell I'm excited about this?!

  1. it looks so lovely. i can understand hayley wanting the spotted side. you will be surprised at what a different look the coat will have once the button are on. i have never attempted something like that - you are brave
